Post Adoption Services

Imagine you're an adult adoptee and are having medical problems. An updated medical history from your birth parents could be vital for your medical team. Or maybe 30 years ago you placed a child for adoption and are now interested in hearing from the child, maybe even meeting him or her.

It is obvious that while the adoption "process" may end on placement day, adoption itself is a long-term procedure with on-going implications for all members involved. Our Post Adoption Services (PAS) program assists with these specific needs. While sometimes services are provided within a few years of the adoption, there are other times when they are not requested for decades afterwards.

Our PAS program also handles medical emergencies and death notifications. In these instances child placement licensing requires that the other party to an adoption be contacted (where possible) and offered the information of serious illness or death of the other party. Another service is our match database (informal registry). Whenever both parties have registered, facilitation of contact is possible.

Methodist Mission Home no longer holds Texas Cradle Society adoption records. They have been moved to Texas Central Adoption Registry (TCAR) in Austin, Texas. Please visit the TCAR website here for more information.
